Overview
One of Bandai’s gashapon-only model kit series alongside Gashapon Quest and Link Travelers, Aqua Shooters is by far the weirdest one. As the name suggests (however vaguely), it focuses on water guns; specifically, Japanese high school girls shooting each other with water guns. And water bazookas. And water swords.
While the line has been around since 2019, perhaps understandably, Bandai might’ve found the line a little sauceless in comparison to the grand isekai adventure of Gashapon Quest and the roaring sci-fi cyberpunk adventures of Link Travelers. As such, Aqua Shooters boasts a surprising amount of collaborations, boasting two different generations of Love Live idols (Aquors and Nijigaku), a few Cinderella Girls figures and, because we’re still talking about Bandai, Suletta and Miorine from The Witch from Mercury.
Construction and Engineering
If you’re familiar with Bandai’s other gashapon trading figures, this one should be nothing different; decent quality, surprising articulation and being fairly sturdy for kits that aren’t even 10 cm tall.
Aesthetics
These kits aren’t particularly striking. While the high school aesthetic is one not largely known in the girlpla world outside of Sousai Shoujo Teien and other licensed kits, the main appeal (aside from just wanting the Aquors and Nijigaku girls) are probably the large amounts of weapons that come with the Aqua Shooters girls and which are compatible with their Gashapon Quest and Link Travelers counterparts.
Ease of Acquisition:
Sadly, like their Gashapon Quest counterparts, these kits have been discontinued. Good luck getting them; they are, however, lurking around the secondhand market for various prices.
