Overview
Blokees, sometimes known as Bloks, is a Chinese toy company from 2015 that is significantly more well-known for making Transformers buildable action figures, as well as figures from a variety of other franchises. Naturally, because everyone and their mother, from Bandai to Kotobukiya to Volks to random small companies that literally only exist to make Hatsune Miku figures have made Hatsune Miku figures, Blokees took their own stab not once, not twice, not even four times, but three whole toylines just for Miku. We, however, will only be focusing on the Fantastics toyline.
This guide and review will only concern itself with the first of the Hatsune Miku figures made by Blokees, the official outfit version. However, as to our understanding most of these kits use the same techniques and architecture, you can probably apply most of what we’re about to say to all of them, so take this as a hybrid solo review AND line review.
Construction and Engineering
In all honesty, these are barely model kits, though from what we remembered, they still had a bit of sprue from whoever cut them at the factory. They’re basically action figures you can take apart. Strictly speaking, any less like model kits, and these wouldn’t be allowed (sorry, ACT MODES, as much as I’d like to talk about Symphogear, and I really would like to talk about Symphogear).
That said, these are piss easy to put together; you scarcely even need the accompanying manual and you don’t even need tools, which is something only an Entry Grade could boast of. Quality-wise, these are pretty good, and articulation is also pretty good. The soft clothing is a REALLY nice touch and the detailing on the instruments is pretty good. Articulation is also fairly strong, which makes her excellent for posing with her various accessories.
However, do be warned that if you use the ribbed stand that comes with Miku, they can rub or indent the plastic that comprises her body, so be careful.
Aesthetics:
It’s literally Hatsune Miku.
Ease of Acquisition:
In a rarity, we can actually give you her price in RMB this time. Blokees’ Hatsune Miku (her official outfit variant, at least, we have no idea what the other Mikus retail at) retails at RMB 169 (GBP 20 or USD 25), and available at nearly any toy store on any side of the Pacific or Atlantic at this point.
Personal Verdict?
A perfectly serviceable Hatsune Miku model kit-action figure hybrid for a reasonable price. If you’re Miku’s strongest soldier, there’s no reason not to get her. Honestly, if we make a habit of reviewing Hatsune Miku kits, we may just have to have an entire section devoted just to Hatsune Miku because there’s literally an entire subset of model kits that are just Miku. At least be original and give us like, GUMI or Luka or something.
